Location: Mintom, with regular travels within Tridom Cameroon segment
I.Mission of the Department:
WWF is supporting the Government of Cameroon towards sustainable natural resources
management, and wildlife conservation in TRIDOM Cameroon landscape. In particular important is
support to the fight against elephant poaching and ivory trafficking which is dramatic in the lanscape.
This includes transborder collaboration with Gabon and Congo.
II. Major Functions:
The aim of this position is to enable WWF to to support MINFOF to implement wildlife law enforcement and anti-poaching efforts in the TRIDOM Cameroon Interzone including the Cameroon Gabon border.
III. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
x Provide technical assistance to local MINFOF authorities (Forest chief of post MINTOM, UTO
NM coordinator, the conservator of Mengame Gorilla sanctuary…) in development and
implementation of anti-poaching and law enforcement strategies in the Tridom Cameroon inter-
zone ;
x Assist local MINFOF staff in planning and implementation of anti-poaching and law
enforcement activities in Tridom Cameroon inter-zone and surrounding Protected Areas
(Mengamé, UTO NM, South Dja…);
x Collect strategic data for wildlife law enforcement (trails, camps, camera trap data etc.) and set
up a law enforcement database;
x Ensure that SMART LE monitoring is applied and that data are entered in SMART data base.
x Provide technical support to local MINFOF and ANPN in transboundary law enforcement
activities between CMR & GAB;
x Support logistically the ANPN team from the Cameroonian side
x Assist WWF field staff in charge of working with local communities around the Tridom inter-
zone area in the implementation of the Community Based Wildlife Crime Prevention Framework
including awareness raising and participation in the conservation work;
x Develop strategic collaboration with private sector operators (Logging, Mining…) in the field of
wildlife conservation.
x In collaboration with relevant WWF technical staff and key partners, ensure regular training and
backstopping services are provided to MINFOF, in anti-poaching operations, surveillance,
environmental policies and guidance in conformity with existing forestry and wildlife texts;x In collaboration with other WWF technical staff, ensure implementation of on-going socio-
economic and ecological monitoring system in the Tridom Cameroon Interzone;
x Ensure proper entry and management of relevant scientific data and produce periodical report
x Ensures that all WWF expenses in the Interzone Tridom are following WWFs’ guidelines on
expenditures.
x Produce concise technical reports and relevant anti-poaching and law enforcement data
x Alert relevant authorities on key issues related to anti-poaching and wildlife law enforcement.
IV. Profile:
Required Qualifications
x Minimum of Senior Forestry Technician specialized in wildlife or any related specialization;
x Minimum of 5 years professional experience in one or more of the following domains: Wildlife law
enforcement, or Protected Area Management

x Strong vocational interest in nature conservation & passion for anti-poaching
x Willingness and ability to work in a remote area with low supervision;
x Field person: enthousiast for long missions in the forest in difficult remote conditions
x Excellent physical condition;
x Adaptable, flexible;
x Adhere to WWF’s values: Knowledgeable, Optimistic, Determined and Engaging.
V. Working Relationships:
Internal – Collaborate with other key technical staff of the programme as Programme Coordinator,
Park Assistant, Biomonitoring Officer, Senior Forest Officer, Programme Administrative and Finance
Officer, TRIDOM Coordinator, Law enforcement officer etc.
External – Work closely with MINFOF in the field. Works with ANPN/Gabon and MEFDDE/ETIC in
RoC. Works with Law Enforcement (Police, Gendarmerie, Customs) and Prosecution (Ministry of
Justice) agencies. The incumbent has to collaborate with logging firms, Mining firms, Informant
networks, local communities and local NGOs.
