WWF has an exciting and challenging career opportunity for a dynamic and experienced conservation professional to lead our efforts to tackle the illegal wildlife trade in Myanmar. Wildlife crime is a major threat to the country’s biodiversity, the integrity of its key ecosystems, and to the security, livelihoods, and health of its people and its economy.

The Illegal Wildlife Trade Programme Manager position, based in Yangon, is open to International and Myanmar nationals and will lead a dynamic and ambitious team working on several initiatives across the country. If this opportunity sounds like it is made for you, apply now.

Major Function

The IWT Programme Manager will lead WWF’s efforts to tackle IWT in Myanmar. He/She will coordinate closely with regional and global WWF initiatives, including the WWF Tigers Alive Initiative (TAI), and WWF Ivory High Impact Initiative; and those being implemented by other key NGOs and organisations working on IWT. He/she will coordinate closely with government departments and enforcement agencies. The role will include leading project design and implementation, developing funding proposals, enforcement support, surveys, data analysis, and policy advocacy including communications campaigns.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Conservation, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Sciences, or relevant fields

· Knowledge of IWT, conservation and/or natural resource management issues in Myanmar and South East Asia

· Minimum 5 years’ experience designing and implementing development projects in an international setting

· Strong experience of working with government officials, local communities and donors at all levels.

· Fluency in written and spoken English; Myanmar language skills an advantage
