Objectives of the consulting assignment

To conduct detailed assessment and secondary data collection to understand the current status of water quality and community’s water dependency, and provide trainings to local CSOs and individuals from impacted communities in understanding water related risks (including water quality), the value of ecosystem services and awareness on their water rights, have capacities and resources to claim their rights.

Scope of work

The consultant is expected to provide a detailed methodology and timeline of following two assignments and get it approved from the contractor. The scope of the work is as follows:

1. Detailed assessment and secondary data collection to understand the current status of water quality and community’s water dependency.

· To shortlist c. 20 potential project sites

· To assist in jointly identifying with WWF 5 – 10 areas to conduct detailed assessment of water quality and community’s water dependency

· Conduct detailed assessments to understand the current status of water quality including collecting samples and conducting water tests and community’s water dependency in the selected areas[F1] .

2. Provide trainings to local CSOs and individuals from impacted communities in understanding water related risks (including water quality), the value of ecosystem services and awareness on their water rights, have capacities and resources to claim their rights.

The consultant needs to develop a detailed work plan with a feasible time line within 10 days of signing a contract and submit it to the project for approval.

Requirements

· Extensive knowledge and expertise in CSOs engagement, water quality assessment, environmental assessment, trainings with communities.

· Demonstrated experience in the delivering similar trainings and development of knowledge products in any community.

· Experience working with research, data collection and other relevant professionals.

· Knowledge of pollution parameters and level of impacts.

· Candidates based in Myanmar or with work experience in Myanmar strongly preferred
