Objectives of Scoping Study
The objectives of the scoping study for biodiversity surveys and HCV assessments are:
- To gain a good understanding of the state of knowledge about biodiversity and HCVs in the Tanintharyi Region targeting selected forest areas through desk review
- To mobilize a team of experienced technical specialist to carry out scoping studies for five forested areas
- To document local knowledge from interviews with key stakeholders
- To complete field surveys in selected forest areas using transects
- To complete an analysis of field data and information
- To document findings for each forest area and include these area findings in an integrated report. Final integrated report should be organized so that sections for each of the 5 forested areas can be extracted as stand-alone reports.
Qualifications of Team Members
· Relevant Bachelor Degree or Graduate Degree
· 5 years of experience in area of specialization including field surveys
· Understanding of concepts of High Conservation Values and importance sustainable agriculture and forestry products is an asset.
· Fluency in written and spoken Myanmar language and good English skills
Deliverables
The following deliverables are required:
- Soft or hard copies of relevant references materials from desk review
- Minutes of meetings and consultants. Copies of any questionnaires used during consultations
- Draft Report with 2-3 page executive summary. Each surveyed area should have its own analysis and narrative which can be extracted as a separate stand-alone report.
- Final Report responding to feedback from WWF
